Upon completing both her undergraduate and graduate studies at Baylor University and acquiring invaluable experience within the Neonatal ICU at Texas Children's Hospital, Dr. Ekiria Collins, our esteemed founder, cultivated a deep-seated passion for nurturing and caregiving. Motivated by her unwavering dedication to the well-being of children and families, alongside a rich history of community service, she embarked on a journey toward embracing responsible pet parenting. This odyssey commenced with meticulous research and extensive engagement with numerous breeders, enlightening her on the imperative of steering clear of commercial pet stores that operated without transparency in their breeding practices. Witnessing disconcerting narratives of dogs being born in puppy mills and encountering unethical breeding methodologies further galvanized her steadfast commitment to upholding ethical standards in breeding.

Drawing upon her family's heritage in the breeding domain dating back to 1987, Ekiria, despite initially harboring aspirations for a career in the medical field, found herself impassioned to perpetuate the commendable breeding practices ingrained in her from childhood. Seamlessly amalgamating her educational and medical acumen, she formally established herself as a professional and reputable breeder in 2007. Over seventeen years hence, her devotion to nurturing high-caliber, robust, and well-socialized puppies remains resolute, with the active involvement of her family in this noble pursuit. After graduating from Baylor University and working in the Neonatal ICU at Texas Children‘s Hospital, our founder Ekiria Collins developed a strong desire to become a mother. Due to her dedication to the children and families at Texas Children's Hospital and her community service, she thought it would be best for her to become a pet parent. 

Our founder began her journey by researching and interviewing breeders. She learned to stay away from commercial pet stores that don’t breed their own dogs and can’t physically show the parents. During her research on Breeders, she saw horror stories of how dogs were being born in puppy mills and unhealthy breeding practices of some local and popular breeders. Ekiria’s family began breeding in 1987. Although she had plans for a medical career, she became inspired to continue the healthy breeding practices she experienced as a child and implement the education and medical training she received in her own breeding program. Ekiria become a registered and reputable breeder in 2007. Thirteen years later, her fur babies are still her children. Her family joined her in raising high quality, healthy, and socialized puppies. Our network has now grown to include trusted friends and customers who partner with us. We believe it takes a village to raise Gold Standard Puppies.

We provide prenatal parent video calls before our moms deliver, scheduled video calls for family and puppy bonding, picture or video updates with growth milestones, and life-long coaching on raising your puppy.
